Variable-rate Phosphorus Fertilization: On-farm Research Methods and Evaluation for Corn and Soybean

چکیده

This study adapted precision agriculture technologies to commonly used field-scale strip trials and compared fixed and variable phosphorus (P) fertilization for corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. Differential global positioning receivers, yield monitors, and grid soil sampling were used. Variablerate fertilization reduced considerably the total amount of P fertilizer applied in two of four fields and increased yields in one field. Statistical analysis that accounted for spatial correlation of yield improved the evaluation of treatment effects. The results showed that a combination of traditional on-farm strip trials, precision farming technologies, and statistical methods that account for spatial correlation of yields can be used to obtain more thorough comparisons of management practices.

Influence of Phytase on Tibia Bone Characteristics of Broiler Quail Fed on Corn-Soybean Meal Diets

BACKGROUND: Exogenous phytase enhances the utilization of plant phytate phosphorus in poultry. OBJECTIVES: In the present study the effects of exogenous phytase was investigated on tibia bone characteristics of white quail. METHODS: In a 2x2 factorial arrangement, eighty, 11-day old unsexed chicks were randomly divided into 4 treatments of 20 replicates. All birds received one of four experimen...

Alternatives for P and K Management:

Adequate amounts of soil phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) are needed to support sustained corn and soybean production. These requirements have been recognized for a long time, and soil testing is a useful tool to estimate P and K fertilization needs. Obviously, fertilizer applications to low-testing soils increase grain yield and result in economic benefits for crop producers. Continued P and K...

Corn yield and yield stability under varying nutrient management, crop rotation, and rainfall

Long-term yield performance and yield stability of common cropping systems needs to be simultaneously assessed at various fertility regimes. Based on a consecutive 19-year field trial, including eight fertilization treatments with different combinations of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and recycled manure (RM), the effects of fertilization and crop rotation on corn (Zea mays L.) y...

Phosphorus losses from monitored fields with conservation practices in the Lake Erie Basin, USA

Conservation practices are implemented on farm fields in the USA through Farm Bill programs; however, there is a need for greater verification that these practices provide environmental benefits (e.g., water quality). This study was conducted to assess the impact of Farm Bill eligible conservation practices on soluble P (SP) and total P (TP) losses from four fields that were monitored between 2...

In order to understanding of the VAM effects on functions and nutrition of the corn, a research was conducted in Agricultural Research Center of Safi Abad, Khouzestan. The experiment was carried out based randomized complete block design at four replications. The treatments contain Mycorrhiza Fungi and phosphorous includes: A: Phosphorus according to soil test. B: VAM + Phosphorus according to ...
